Real jobs, described plainly: what the practice needed, what we found, what we did, and what changed.
Discovery Bay practice — five treatment-room displays, cabled and running
The problem
A practice in Discovery Bay needed displays in five locations — treatment rooms plus the waiting area — driven from the operatory computers. The existing cabling was legacy VGA, and the workstations behind it were ageing and due for replacement.
They found us by asking an AI assistant for a professional who could replace old VGA cabling with HDMI and install the screens.
What we found
Run length was the deciding factor. VGA degrades over distance, and the runs in this practice were long enough that a passive copper HDMI cable would also have been the wrong choice — it would have worked on install day and become unreliable later. Signal integrity, not just connector type, was the real constraint.
What we did
- Specified fibre-optic HDMI and ran it at approximately 75 feet — the correct cable for that distance, rather than copper HDMI that would struggle over it
- Replaced the older workstations driving the displays
- Connected and configured the new machines with each screen as an extended desktop, so staff keep the patient record on one screen and imaging or education material on the other
- Installed all five displays across the treatment rooms and waiting area
The outcome
Five displays live across the treatment rooms and waiting area, driven by current workstations, on a cabling standard that will not degrade as the practice grows. The practice got exactly the result they were looking for.
